Emily, a Towson University graduate, was looking for portraits in her cap and gown to incorporate into a graduation announcement postcard for friends and family. Emily requested to have simple, pastel colored floral embellishment, a photograph of herself, and her graduation information on a card that despite the floral graphic was not overly feminine.
I took photographs of Emily around her college’s campus that showcased unique aspects of the campus such places with colorful hanging lights, the school’s mascot Doc;s statue, and stained glass windows in Stephen's Hall. I used the photograph of Emily with the unique lights and window in the background as the photo for the postcard and pulled color tones to use as the background and accept colors on the card. The hand-painted floral embellishment is colorful, simple, and adds a feminine touch. I continued the theme with a painted-looking script font for the main headlines to tie together the colors, femininity, and formality of the final design.
